Outstanding Professional Fundraiser Award

Nominations being accepted through March 19

For the first time this year, the AFP Lowcountry Chapter will recognize a local professional who has distinguished himself or herself in the field of philanthropy with the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser Award. Candidates must have at least 10 years' experience in fundraising, consistently exhibited excellence, given back to the fundraising community through presentations, trainings or workshops, been a leader with the local chapter, and made a difference in the fundraising profession by his or her outstanding contributions, leadership and example. Consultants may be included among the nominations.  
                                                                                                                                                     

A detailed application can be found below and should be returned with supporting documentation to the 2010 Awards Committee by March 19. The Awards Committee will select three nominations, which will then be sent to another AFP chapter for objective input on the winner. The winner will be announced in April and the award presented in June at the Summer Institute.

Nominations should include letters of support and will be evaluated on the following:

                                                                                                                   

* Description of career achievements, length and tenure of fundraising background, experience and results.

* Evidence of quality of leadership that is effective, creative, and stimulating.

* Membership in AFP and evidence that the individual practices and promotes the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards for fundraising professionals.

* Description of individual's commitment to continuing professional development.

* Evidence of commitment to fundraising and philanthropy through voluntary service and financialsupport ofnon-profit organizations.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Please provide the AFP Lowcountry Chapter Awards Committee with a description of the specific achievements accomplished through your nominee's efforts. Include at least two statements supportingthe award criteria above.  The Committee recommends collaborative nominations - multiple organizations working together in support of a particular individual. Please be thorough but succinct. Nominations must be submitted by current AFP members (with whom the Committee can communicate directly) and must be complete by the deadline in order to receive consideration. Documentation in support of the nominees/nominations may come from non-members.
