Major Gifts Officer

The Citadel Foundation

The Major Gifts Officer is part of The Citadel’s major gift team and is responsible for planning, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major gift donors and prospective donors for gifts that will benefit The Citadel.  The position reports directly to the Associate Executive Director

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

·         Identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects for the College’s fundraising priorities;

·         Manage a list of 150-200 prospects, purposefully guiding them to major investments in the College;

·         Coordinate cultivation activities and solicitations involving other college representatives, including senior staff, volunteers, deans and directors;

·         Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation activities;

·      Participate in the prospect management process to ensure coordinated major gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities;

·      Travel extensively in the fulfillment of these duties;

·      Act as Major Gift Liaison for Reunion Year Groups as required.

·      Act as Liaison to the School as required.

·      Special assignments as required.

·      Conduct a minimum of 225 face-to-face calls annually and make 25 successful solicitations annually.

·      Other pertinent and appropriate duties as assigned

Director of Institutional Advancement

SC Aquarium

 

The Director of Institutional Advancement directs the fundraising activities of the South Carolina Aquarium, including management of the capital campaign, annual fund, foundations and grants, fundraising events, membership and planned giving.

 

 

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for creating and implementing an operational plan for the capital campaign; identifying and cultivating major donors; coordinating business partnerships and sponsorships; overseeing membership activities; managing the fundraising events, including a black-tie gala; the planning and implementation of the annual fund program; the creation and implementation of a planned giving program; providing staff support for the CEO; serving as a liaison with the Aquarium’s board of directors; and maintaining clear lines of communication with other department heads to strengthen fundraising efforts.  This position directly supervises four persons and interacts regularly with key volunteers.  The director is responsible for preparing an annual budget and staff performance reviews.

Crisis Ministries

Development Director


Crisis Ministries, located in Charleston, SC, is seeking an experienced individual to enhance and grow our already successful fundraising and development efforts. Crisis Ministries is South Carolina's largest provider of homeless services and enjoys a strong reputation in the community and beyond. The Development Director will serve as the Division Head and work with senior management to ensure the implementation of the organization's mission.

 

The Development Director is responsible for the coordination of fundraising, community relations and volunteer initiatives to secure the resources necessary to advance Crisis Ministries’ mission. He/she is responsible for the development and management of annual fundraising efforts including direct-mail, database management, stewardship and face-to-face solicitation of current and potential donors. During 2009, he/she will be responsible for the implementation of a series of 25th Anniversary events designed to raise funds and awareness to support the organization.

 

Specific Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years relevant and supervisory experience.

• Proficiency in database management, experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.

• Successful track record in direct fundraising efforts.

• Experience securing major gifts required; capital campaign experience preferred.

• Experience in establishing and maintaining corporate sponsorships.

• Strong written and oral communication skills with public speaking experience.

• Creative, entrepreneurial and self-motivated.

 

Specific Responsibilities include:

• Develop concept for and supervise the execution of the annual Food Shelter Hope fundraising event to raise resources necessary to meet budgetary and fundraising goals.

• Develop concept for and supervise the implementation of year-long 25th Anniversary fundraising and recognition events.

• Manage the organization’s Annual Campaign to include a staff campaign, Board of Directors giving and face-to-face solicitations of current and potential major donors.

• Serve as an integral member of the organization’s management team.

Boys and Girls Clubs of the Trident Area  
 

The mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Trident Area is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We provide a safe place for young people to learn and grow and develop ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals.  

The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s fund-raising activities and, in conjunction with the Executive Director, will serve as the organization’s key external affairs representative to diverse audiences. Proven skills in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporate and individual donors and foundations are essential.  


We seek a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in the fund-raising field.  Experience in grant writing and managing a donor data base are preferred.  Additional requirements include the ability to organize and coordinate fund-raising operations and events; strong oral and written communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.

Planned Parenthood in Charleston

Want to change the world? Fundraising professional needed in Charleston, South Carolina for Planned Parenthood, the world's largest and most trusted family planning organization. This leadership position will direct a development program in Coastal South Carolina and possibly state-wide.

The position will be based in our soon-to-be-opened Planned Parenthood Health Center in Charleston, SC. Together with our Health Center in Columbia, we provide reproductive health care and sexuality education to thousands of women, men and teens across the state.

As part of our diverse and talented Development team across four states (NC, SC, WV and VA), we offer effective administrative support services to professional staff, and opportunities for regional collaboration. This position will oversee at least one professional staff person.

Planned Parenthood Health Systems is a multi-state, regional affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Our focus is on prevention - prevention of unintended pregnancy, sexuality transmitted infections, and cancer and other illnesses - through health care, education and advocacy. We do more to prevent the need for abortion than any other organization in the world. Our typical patient is a 20-something working woman without health insurance; without Planned Parenthood she would be unable to afford an annual exam or birth control. Our education programs targets teenagers to help them make responsible choices regarding the health and sexuality.

The optimal candidate would have 5 or more years successful nonprofit fundraising and supervisory experience, college degree, and CFRE certification.
